Did you know that there’s a creative, vibrant community of artists and artisans just minutes away from downtown Nanaimo?
With the highest number of artisans per capita in the country, it’s no surprise Gabriola Island is commonly referred to as ‘The Isle of the Arts’. Just a quick 20-minute ferry ride from Nanaimo’s downtown, Gabriola is the perfect place to spend a day exploring natural wonders and visiting the local artisans they inspire.
Here’s how to have an unforgettable day on Gabriola:
Discover Artisans and Producers
Artisan studios and farm stands can be found throughout the island, with many open year-round. Just look for the yellow or green roadside flags that indicate a studio or stand is open. You can also visit The Gabriola Farmer’s Market which features locally sourced goods and takes place every weekend year-round!
