The vision of the NIFSS is to bring to Nanaimo audiences:

– films that enhance an awareness and value of diversity in culture, language and identity

–  films that transform our lives, our relationships, and our place in the world

–   independent films not easily accessible in cinemas on Central Vancouver Island

–  an intimate and welcoming gathering space for lovers of alternate films to celebrate watching them together

–  to help Canadian filmmakers share their stories with a wider audience and provide a platform to connect them with audiences through guest visits

–  to build and strengthen partnerships with other groups in Nanaimo that focus on the film arts
