Love Where You Live

OCTOBER
2024

Summer sun and outdoor fun are just around the corner bringing the chance to explore, experience and have some amazing adventures in Nanaimo.

Whether you live in town or are visiting for a while, take inspiration from our list of cool things to do in Nanaimo this summer.

Don’t be afraid to get your toes (or your whole body) wet, join a cheer-filled crowd and explore the city streets. This summer try something a bit different and you might find your new favourite thing to do!

  1. Climb to the top of the world. Well, OK, to the top of Mount Benson, but the 360-degree views from the top of the city, ocean and mountains are an inspiring reward after the hike up.

  2. Warm up your cheering voice and watch a summer parade. Celebrate diversity and inclusivity at the Nanaimo Pride Parade in June or see the world’s biggest bathtub at the ‘Sail Past on Wheels’ that kicks off the Marine Festival and Bathtub Weekend.
  3. Make a splash! Nanaimo is spoiled for choice when it comes to natural swimming spots. Get pebbles between your toes at one of Nanaimo’s ocean-side beaches, float in a swimming hole on the Nanaimo River or make a splash dock-jumping at a lake.
  4. Find out what summer tastes like when you enjoy fresh and local produce at a Nanaimo farmer’s market. While you’re there check out local artisan crafts, live music and delicious food truck offerings too.
  5. Enjoy the sounds of music on the streets at an al-fresco concert such as the Old City Quarter concert series or the Blues Festival at Maffeo Sutton Park.
